A revisão semanal ~ The weekly review

The post describes a weekly GTD review as a way to look back on the past week and prepare the next one. The author says she usually does it on Friday night or Saturday morning and keeps her planner, tickler file, and household book ready for it.

#

  • Empty the planner inbox, plus other inboxes such as loose papers in the wallet, the car, and mail, then sort the material by filing it, throwing it away, moving it to an action list or a someday/maybe list, or turning it into a project.
  • Put items that matter but should wait until a later moment into the tickler file.
  • The tickler file is organized by months and holds documents that need action on a specific future date, such as tickets, bills, and medical exams.
  • During the weekly review, check the tickler file for the coming week and process what is there by adding it to the calendar or the action list.
  • Review the previous week’s calendar to see whether anything was missed, then move unfinished items to the next week.
  • Review the coming week’s calendar to check whether everything makes sense and to remember appointments and other commitments.
  • Scan all action lists to find tasks that can be done right away.
  • Put dated actions on the calendar and write other planned actions for the week on a post-it kept with the weekly planner.
