Systems have expiration dates — review them

00:37:01 — Systems have expiration dates — review them

Brooks closes with a warning that systems thinking can fail in its own way: a system that succeeded at one stage of life can quietly become a habit you perform without examining whether it still serves you. The same property that makes systems powerful — running on autopilot — is what allows them to outlive their usefulness. The corrective is the same loop the rest of the episode argues for, applied to the systems themselves: review them periodically, with enough honesty to retire the ones that have stopped paying back.
