First Two Steps to Creating Resilience
The post says resilience is hard to feel when life is full of stress and overwhelm. It presents two first steps: remove extra stress and then do small things that help you feel more recharged and settled.
Reading notes#
- Some stress is inevitable, but removing unnecessary stress clears space for resilience.
- The examples of reducing stress include drinking less, smoking less, stopping late-night work, cutting workload, saying yes less often, pausing fights, sleeping more, and stepping back from angry news or social media.
- Replenishing yourself does not mean a spa weekend; it means small things that help you feel more settled.
- The examples of replenishment include walks in nature, reading, tea, baths, journaling, talking with someone, naps, better sleep, weekends off, sunshine, and moments of stillness and deep breathing.
- These two steps do not create full resilience on their own, but they prepare you for later work on shifting thinking patterns and practicing resilience.
